Daniel & Karen

About Us

Karen and Dan met while Karen was attending NYU. After a few years of dating long distance, Dan moved to Queens to be closer to her. We’ve spent the last 20 years building a life together. Karen is an children’s book editor and Dan is a television video editor.

We love to travel near and far, whether it’s a road trip in our mini cooper or a flight to Italy.

Our Lives

Karen and I live in a two bedroom apartment in Astoria, Queens with our cat Daria. We enjoy the outdoors, movies, museums, live music. We both have family upstate and we make frequent car trips to see them. We enjoy big home-cooked meals with groups of friends and family.

Our Family

Family is important to us, so Karen’s nephew and niece, Noah and Natalie, and Dan’s cousins’ young children will play a big role in our child’s life, as will both sets of (very excited) grandparents.

We have many family traditions: Dan cooks Thanksgiving dinner hosted at Karen’s sister’s house; we spent Christmas Eve day with Noah and Natalie before joining Dan’s extended family; and we host Dan’s family for Hanukkah. We often visit Karen’s parents in Florida in December, spend many weekends upstate with Dan’s parents, and see many youth basketball games and elementary school theater performances.

We also have many close friends with young children, in New York City and the surrounding suburbs.

Closing Thoughts

We are both so excited to bring a child into our family, to share in the joy and wonder of a new life. By sharing this special little person with us, the love surrounding them will grow exponentially.  – Daniel & Karen
